Redesigning a complex KYC platform in four weeks

A four-week redesign of indueD, a due-diligence platform used by compliance teams, simplifying a complex interface and setting a clearer direction.

From a dense, developer-led interface to a clearer direction, in four weeks.

Redesigned indueD screens, including a sign-in page, a welcome dashboard with a portfolio chart and world map, and a company detail view.

Context

Altares wanted to modernise indueD, a due-diligence platform used by compliance teams. I helped rethink the end-to-end experience, simplifying a complex interface and creating a clearer foundation for future development.

The platform had been built primarily around functionality, resulting in a dense interface, inconsistent patterns and limited understanding of what users actually needed. The redesign had to fit a four-week timeframe.

Approach

Research and synthesis

I interviewed five users, audited the existing experience and carried out heuristic and competitor analysis. From there I mapped pain points and user needs, prioritised the highest-value opportunities and defined the journeys we needed to redesign.

Interview findings sorted into positive, negative and neutral sticky notes, grouped around screenshots of the existing product.A persona board for “Zara”, with goals and motivations, wants and needs, frustrations, pain points and quotes.

Redesign

Simplifying without losing depth

Working within the four-week timeframe, I translated the research into a new information architecture, a new visual language and a set of high-fidelity product experiences. What changed:

  • simplified portfolio management
  • introduced global search
  • improved filtering and information hierarchy
  • reduced unnecessary interface complexity
  • more consistent interaction and visual patterns

Outcome

In four weeks, we moved from an ageing, developer-led interface to a redesigned end-to-end concept that gave Altares a clearer direction for future product iterations.

  • More intuitive: users found the simplified experience easier to understand and navigate.
  • More modern: testing showed a strong preference for the new visual direction.
  • Built to evolve: the redesign established a foundation for subsequent product development.
